Obituary for Carole Mary Olmschenk

Carole Mary Olmschenk
Carole Mary Olmschenk

Carole was born at home in St. Paul on August 20, 1946 to Phillomina and Edward Olmschenk. She graduated from Central High School in St. Paul. Following her high school graduation, she went to a technical school in Minneapolis for their program in data entry. At 18 years old, Carole married Charles Paul and they had their daughter, Dawn. Charles passed away unexpectedly after a year of marriage and Carole became a single mother. She worked for 17 years at what is now known as Unisys. She was phenomenal at her job and was one of the first employees sent to California for special training with their computers. In 1975, she married Richard Breezee and she and Dawn moved to White Bear Lake where he and his 5 children lived. Richard and Carole had their daughter, Michelle, together in White Bear Lake, and then moved the whole family to North Branch in 1976. In 1983, Carole moved to Circle Pines. Jaime Hess (Shelly’s high school friend) moved in when Carole “unofficially” adopted her as part of the family. Carole went on in her career in data entry to work for Comcast for over 21 years and she proudly retired in 2010. Her daughter, Dawn, happily joined her with a career at Comcast and now works for them in Colorado. She eventually came to settle in Vadnais Heights where she enjoyed walking by White Bear Lake. Carole adored animals and had a Maltese mix named Gracie. Her family meant the world to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was even blessed to help raise her step-grandson, Mike, throughout his childhood. Carole enjoyed bingo at the casino, going out to breakfast, playing games on the computer, and watching movies. She was a thoughtful, compassionate and caring woman. When her father became ill, she stepped up and proudly took care of him at home for over two years. She had always been one to invite people into her home and was a wonderful cook. The most memorable times were summers at Carole’s house when all the cousins and kids came to stay. Those who knew her well knew that she could open up and be very outgoing and social. She will be remembered for her amazing personality and the love that she shows to everyone in her life.

Carole is preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Paul; her parents, Edward and Phillomina Olmschenk; her siblings, Ralph Olmschenk, Jerry Olmschenk, and Jeanie Schwartz; and her dear step-daughter, Robin. She will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Dawn (Doug) Janusch of Aurora, CO and Michelle “Shelly” (Brian) Hanson of Lino Lakes, MN; her grandchildren, Kaylee and Brianna Hanson of Lino Lakes, MN, Nikki Janusch of Fridley, MN, and Sammi Janusch of Aurora, CO; her two sisters, Mary (James “Jim”) Dinger of St. Paul, MN and Janet Bygd of Colfax, WI; her step children, William “Bill” Breezee, Mary (Larry) Swenson, Peggy (Mike) Herzog and Rich (Barb) Breezee; many step-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
