Arthur passed away on May 9, 2017 in White Bear Lake, MN surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 18, 1928 in South Boston, Massachusetts. He was one of four children of Sylvia Ann [Mullavey] and Nicholas Elias Pernokas. He attended Boston Latin School, Boston University and Tufts University.

From early times in his life, his family visited relatives in Lincoln, New Hampshire. Each time they visited he would seek out the company of a certain girl, Joyce Walsh. After two years in the US Army, spent mostly in Trieste, Italy, Arthur returned home to finish his schooling. Joyce became his wife on September 5, 1954. They made their home in North Andover, Massachusetts and Arthur set up his orthodontic practice in Haverhill. He had a natural way with children and loved to make them laugh. Eventually, they had a second home in Newbury, NH, where his family and friends would gather summers to enjoy Lake Sunapee. Upon retirement Arthur and Joyce moved to Atkinson NH, then to Madison, WI, and White Bear Lake, MN to be close to their daughters. Arthur was a Boston Red Sox baseball fan and when he was not working or spending time with his family, he could be found golfing.
