John was my best friend. I feel like I've lost a brother. He was always there for me whenever I needed advice, or just a laugh. And his laugh was the best I've ever heard. It reminds me of a time we worked together training mechanics in Newark, NJ. We worked 2nd shift. At the end of class John told a joke. (Some may know it - Ed Zachary Disease). After that we were to do some training on 3rd shift. A gentleman of Asian descent begged John to tell him the joke again, so he could then tell it to the 3rd shift guys when they came in. Bottom line, he told the long joke - and at the end he said "just like" instead of "exactly". John and I laughed so hard I thought we were going to split a gut.
When we got to the hotel that night I told John to look out his window. The New York skyline was visible accross the Hudson. You know John. He said he didn't care about cityscapes, show me some mountains. Months later he thanked me for showing me the view that night. Because the towers were gone.
I miss you already Buddy!
