Obituary for Jeannine Mae "Nana" Glancey

Jeannine Mae "Nana" Glancey
Jeannine Mae Glancey (nee Thomas)

"Nana" and "Jeanne"

Age 88 of St. Paul
“I’ve Lived a Good Life.”

Jeanne was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 12, 1929. She was the daughter of Marie (nee Anderson) and Henry Thomas. Over the course of her career, she has worked at State Farm Insurance for 17 years, St. Paul School District for 23 years, and most recently until October of 2013, Target for 29 years. Outside of work and her family, she loved to be a part of First Lutheran Church on Maria Avenue. She was a devoted member of their bible study, Chancel Circle, Food Shelf and Elder Cafe. She donated many items to the Animal Humane Society. She loved anything Irish, Mickey Mouse or purple. She was always an Irish wannabe. This past St. Patrick's day was her first knowing she was 6% Irish after a DNA test confirmed it as official, and she was thrilled! Anyone who knows Jeanne can tell you that she was kindhearted and never complained. She was always positive and seemed to find something good in everyone and everything. Two of her favorite things to say were, "Life is good." and "Nothing bothers me." She took an interest in everyone and was an inspiration to all. Her personality will be missed by all who knew her.

In honor of her love for purple and anything Irish, the family is asking everyone to wear their favorite shade of purple or green while we celebrate Jeanne's life.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Henry Thomas. She will be dearly missed by her two daughters, Kathleen (Dennis) Alm of Woodbury, and Theresa (Jack) Kohner of Oakdale; her grandchildren, Heather (Rik) Myhre, Ashley (Eric Fust) Alm, Samuel Kohner, and Nathan Kohner; her great-grandchildren, Hannah Myhre, Aaron Myhre, Alex Myhre, and Aidyn Fust; her brother, Jerry (Shelia) Thomas; special friend, Addie; and many other family and friends.

Visitation for family and friends from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul. Funeral service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at First Lutheran Church, 463 Maria Avenue, St. Paul with second visitation at church from 10:00-11:00 AM. There will be a luncheon in the church hall immediately following the service. For those wishing to join at Union Cemetery for prayers, we will be formally processing from the church parking lot at 1:00 PM.

Memorials are appreciated to any of the following groups that impacted Jeanne’s life. 1) First Lutheran Church, 463 Maria Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55106. 2) Animal Humane Society, 845 Meadow Lane N., Golden Valley, MN 55422. 3) The Pillars Hospice Home, 6025 Upper 35th Street N., Oakdale, MN 55128.
