Obituary for Ruth Ann McKenzie (Bickford)

Ruth Ann McKenzie (Bickford)
Ruth Ann (nee Bickford) McKenzie

Age 86 of St. Paul’s Eastside
Passed Away on January 18, 2018

Ruth was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 24, 1931. She was the daughter of Caroline (nee Baier) and John Bickford. She graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in St. Paul. She dedicated her life to being a great mom to her seven children, Mitchell, Bruce, Ricky, Ronald, Shelley, Kathleen, and Barbara. Ruth was extremely smart and well read. You could always find her with her nose in a book (especially mysteries) or working on a crossword puzzle (which she always managed to complete). She also did taxes for herself, her family, and friends. She was an extremely outgoing woman who made everyone around her laugh. She enjoyed going to the casino to play slots and particularly liked Treasure Island. Her family even took her to Las Vegas several times. She was an excellent cook and made the best comfort food. When she was with her family, she loved to get them into a good card game. Ruth was a member of the Pickle's dart league for many years and won many awards.

Ruth passed away at the Estates of Greeley on the morning of January 18, 2018. She is preceded in death by her daughter; Shelley Dorn, siblings; John Bickford, Bernard Bickford, Richard Bickford, and Sharon Major. She will be dearly missed by her children, Mitchell (Mary) McKenzie of Sarona, WI, Bruce McKenzie of St. Paul, Ricky (Judy) McKenzie of Fridley, Ronald (Cherie) McKenzie of Hugo, Kathleen (Mike) Schauer of St. Paul, and Barbara McKenzie of St. Paul; 9 grandchildren, Josh, Aaron, Jeremy, Joanne, Michelle, Michael, Mark, Timothy, and Nicole; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings; Dennis Bickford, Michele Hurst, Steven Bickford; and other family and friends.

There will be a visitation from 10:00-11:00AM on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul with a service at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow at the American Legion on Arcade Street.
