Obituary for Marianne Doran (O'Hara)

Marianne Doran (nee O’Hara)

Age 90 of White Bear Lake
Mother, Grandma, and Great-Grandma

Marianne was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 5, 1927, the only child of Edna (nee Toomey) and John O’Hara. She worked for 3M for a few years as a secretary until she met the love of her life, Robert Doran. They were married at St. John’s Catholic Church on St. Paul’s east side. Once they began having children, they moved to White Bear Lake to raise their family near St. Pius X Catholic Church. They were given the opportunity to purchase lakefront property from Robert's boss at Baccus Construction but it was important to Marianne to raise their kids closer to church. They designed and built their beautiful home on a cul-de-sac just a block away from the church. One of the things Marianne was most proud about was her love for being Irish. In fact, St. Patrick’s Day was the only day the kids were allowed to miss school. After raising their children, Marianne decided to go back to work after Robert became sick. She restarted her career at 3M but this time as an administrative clerk. She was a former VP of American Legion Auxiliary Post #168. Marianne dedicated her life to her church and her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Marianne passed away peacefully at Lyngblomsten Care Center on May 19, 2018. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Doran; her parents, John and Edna O’Hara; and her two sons, James and Patrick Doran. She will be missed by her children, Kathy Ross of Maplewood, Mike Doran of White Bear Lake, John (LaVonne) Doran of Oakdale, Mary Jo (John) Webber of Farmington, and Tom (Molly) Doran of Gem Lake; 14 grandchildren, Angela (Rich) Danty, Bella Kerri (Scott Anderson) Ross-Anderson, Robert (Jessica) Ross, Brianna Ross, Gabrielle Doran, Mary Rose Doran, Kelly Doran, Tom (Samantha) Doran, Taylor Webber, Tammy Doran, Jeremy Doran, Jade Trinko, Kevin Doran, and Corey Doran; and many great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation for family and friends from 4-8PM on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Mueller Memorial, 4738 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30AM on Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Church of St. Pius X, 3878 Highland Avenue, White Bear Lake with a second visitation 1 hour prior to Mass at church. Interment at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Cemetery.
