Obituary for Thomas John "Tom" Peters

Thomas John "Tom" Peters
PETERS
Thomas John
Age 80 of Hugo
Retired from NSP
Passed away peacefully on August 13th from COPD. Preceded in death by his daughter, Jean and granddaughter, Hannah Rundquist. Tom is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lue; children, Jackie (Dave Knutson) Carr, Marilyn (Juan) Galloway, Amy (Bill) Sieben, Tony (Zrinka) Peters and Matt Peters; 16 grandchildren, Aaron (Danielle) Carr, Ryan Galloway, Sarah Carr, Ashley (Justin) Humphrey, Travis Carr, Madison Galloway, Julia Galloway, Luke Sieben, Mark Sieben, Naomi Peters, Eva Peters, Myah Peters, Summer Peters, Jude Peters, Carmen Peters and 2 great-grandchildren, Willow and Elijiah Carr.
Tom was a very loving, devoted, Christian husband and father. Both his 33 years at NSP as a gas service supervisor and his 34 years of religious retreats at Demontreville were demonstrated by his Christian faith. Tom walked by faith and not by sight.
He and Lue devoutly raised 6 children on Bald Eagle Lake with a mixture of prayer, laughter and the occasional martini.
Tom was a gourmet cook, honing his skills on recipes derived from Emeril and the many other cooking shows he watched daily. His colorful palate was as varied as the lakes in Minnesota where he fished and hunted throughout his life.
In his early life, Tom was adored by his siblings, Donna, Delores and Helen where they spent summers at their cottage on Gull Lake in Brainerd on Pike Bay. His mother, Elfa, and father, Pete, instilled his love of Christ, fishing and swimming.
Tom graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1956 and joined the Army during which he went to Korea to “Keep the Peace”. When he returned, he met and married Lue in 1960. They started their family in the South St. Paul area, eventually moving to their home on Bald Eagle Lake and then back to Gull Lake to enjoy retirement.
Tom will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:30AM on Friday, August 17th at ST. MARY OF THE LAKE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 4741 Bald Eagle Ave., White Bear Lake. Visitation 1 hour prior to Mass. Reception at MUELLER MEMORIAL.
