Obituary for Kathleen Helen "Kathy" Jacobson (Dickey)

Kathleen Helen "Kathy" Jacobson (Dickey)
Kathleen “Kathy” Helen Jacobson (nee Dickey)

Age 75 of White Bear Lake
Loving Wife, Mom, and Grandma

Kathleen was born on February 5, 1941 in Ashton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Helen (nee Becker) and Thomas Dickey. When she applied for a job at Miller Supply Incorporated in St. Paul, little did she know she would be meeting a young fellow that would become the love of her life, Stanley Jacobson. Once she got the job, the two began dating shortly after. They were married above a pizza parlor on December 15, 1967. Stan had two children so they combined their family of eight into a home in Vadnais Heights. After the kids were grown and gone, they moved to a home in White Bear Lake near 4th and Campbell. Kathy retired from Reell Precision Manufacturing, where she worked for over 20 years and made countless friends who meant so much to her. Kathy was blessed with many wonderful friends who would get together for tea, red hat outings, or to celebrate birthdays.

When she was not working, hanging out with friends, or enjoying the company of family, she was busy sewing. She was a phenomenal quilter and has made many pieces for her family members. Kathy’s grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she was so proud of each of them and their accomplishments. While they were younger, she would have them over to bake, attend their school performances, or take them on special trips, really anything just to spend time with them. When Kathy was not surrounded by her children or grandchildren, she and Stan would be off on some type of adventure. They both loved road trips with a couple of her favorite places being Branson, Missouri or visiting her sister, Helen, in Iowa. She and Stan were very funny together, they loved to dance and wouldn’t pass up the chance to polka, even if that meant pulling the car over to the side of the road or in a parking lot and thoroughly embarrassing their kids. Kathy was also blessed with some very special traits. Kathleen was a sweet, kind, caring, and compassionate woman who saw the best in everyone. She was the perfect example of what a mother and grandmother should be.

Survived by her husband of 49 years, Stan; children, Carla (John) Reed, Nancy (Dan) McWherter, Robin (John) Carlson, and Tom (Deanna) Stower; step-children, Randy (Markita), and Rick (Adrian); 14 grandchildren, Kristina Meyer, David (Lynnsey) Carlsen, Dean (Lorena) Carlsen, Mandie (Joe) Meehan, Faith (Donny) Tholkes, David Morisset, Jr., Michael (Kristi) Morisset, Nicole Pudifin, Samantha (Nik) Jensen, Austin Stower, Rosella Stower, Andrew Stower, Cheryl Jacobson, and Jeffrey Jacobson; 23 great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen Manning; and many other family and friends.
