Obituary for Alice Prax (Ranweiler)

Alice Prax (Ranweiler)
Alice Prax (Ranweiler)

With grace, dignity, and a smile,
mom left the love of her family
to be with her Lord and Savior

Alice was born in West Newton Township, Minnesota on June 18, 1917. She was the daughter of Martha (nee Kokasch) and Rudolph “Rudy” Ranweiler. At 14, she left the farm to move in with her aunt in the Twin Cities. When she was 17, she met the love of her life, Benedict Prax. The two were married at Nativity Church in St. Paul on July 9, 1934. They raised their family on St. Paul’s Eastside and attended Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.

Alice was a funny and loving woman. She was all about the beautiful things in life and loved songs, music, dancing, and flowers. Her spirit will truly be missed by all who knew her. She was an excellent seamstress and did tailoring and alteration work at Frank Murphy's. She was amazingly self taught in all that she knew.

Alice passed away on February 26, 2017, just short of her 100th birthday. She is preceded in death by her husband, Benedict; her son, Ben; and her daughter, Darlene Larson. She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Janice (Arlo) Brunsberg of Maplewood and Gloria (the late Marvin) Larson of Bemidji; her siblings, Mary Curran and Hubert Ranweiler; 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Her family will celebrate a life well lived at 11AM on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1725 Kennard Street, Maplewood with a visitation from 10-11AM. Private interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Mahtomedi.
