Luanne Marie Peter

Luanne was born in Eau Claire, WI on February 3, 1948 to Leighton and Lorraine Waterhouse. She graduated from Chetek High School and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. She married Ralph Peter on October 24, 1970 and they had two daughters together, Amanda and Abbey. Luanne worked in Employee Benefits at American Express for over 39 years. She loved to garden, be with her dogs, spend time with her family, attend her grandsons’ events, and travel. After Ralph passed away, Luanne married Bob Girard on December 26, 2002. Those who knew Luanne know how generous, vibrant, loyal, selfless, compassionate, and hardworking she was. More than anything, her family was the center of her life.

Luanne passed away in the evening of March 14, 2017 at St. Therese Hospice at St. Odilia’s with her daughters at her side. Luanne is preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, Ralph Peter; and her parents, Leighton and Lorraine Waterhouse. She will be dearly missed by her second husband, Bob Girard of Shoreview; her daughters, Amanda (Bryan) Vickstrom of White Bear Lake, and Abbey (Ben) Rudolph of River Falls; her grandchildren, Brody (12) Rudolph, Chase (8) Rudolph, Evan (11) Vickstrom, and Reid (7) Vickstrom; her sister, Marcia (Ed) Manydeeds; brothers, Greg (Robin) Waterhouse, Dale (Janet) Waterhouse, Jerry (Eileen) Waterhouse, and Dan Waterhouse; aunt, Vivian Stensby of Chetek; in-laws, Linda Whitson, John Peter and Carol Kettner, and Gloria Peter; and many other family and friends.

There will be two gatherings to celebrate Luanne’s life. The first gathering will be from 3:00-6:00PM on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Mueller Memorial, 4738 Bald Eagle Avenue, White Bear Lake, MN. The second gathering will be from 12:00-2:00PM on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Burnham-Ours Funeral Home, 206 Schofield St, Chetek, WI, with a brief reflection on Luanne’s life at 1:30PM. Interment will immediately follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Chetek. There will be a gathering following the burial at Gilligan’s per Luanne’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to your local animal shelter or rescue.
