Obituary for Myrtle Jean Klosowski (Peloquin)

Myrtle Jean Klosowski (Peloquin)
Myrtle Jean Klosowski (Peloquin)

Age 91 of White Bear Lake
Passed Away on July 4, 2017

Myrtle was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on August 20, 1925. She was the second youngest of Eva (Arcand) and Euclid Peloquin’s five children. She was raised in White Bear Lake where she was a proud lifelong resident. She and her three sisters and one brother were very close. They enjoyed dancing, laughter and each other’s families. Myrtle began working at the telephone company in downtown St. Paul where she would take the train into work each day. One day Myrtle’s coworker introduced her to her nephew. His name was George Klosowski. They fell in love and married on August 31, 1946 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in White Bear Lake. Myrtle was baptized and raised at St. Mary’s where she and George went on to baptize and raise their five children.
She and George lived together in their home on Division Avenue for 61 years. After George’s passing, Myrtle went on to live in her home for five more years.

Myrtle was a social butterfly to say the least! She loved being with people, to listen, tell stories and entertain. She welcomed all into her home for good food and good company. She was well known for having warm cookies, fried bread, donuts, waffles, tuna hot dish, homemade cinnamon rolls and the unforgettable chocolate cake with fluffy white frosting for all who visited. No one left her home hungry or without the comfort of feeling cared for and loved.

Myrtle and George enjoyed tending to their flower gardens, spending time with family and friends, watching Lawrence Welk, going to polka masses and church picnics. As their children grew and moved out, they enjoyed their Sundays going for long drives with no particular destinations in mind. After almost 65 years, their conversations never grew old.

Myrtle’s kindness and laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She unconditionally saw the goodness in everyone she came in contact with.

Myrtle passed away at Johanna Shores Care Center on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, where she was much loved and cared for by family, staff and residence alike. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George Klosowski; and her son, Greg Klosowski. She is survived by her children, Bruce (Cheryl) Klosowski of Little Canada; Gloria (Mike) Thurmes of Bloomington, Denise (Jim) Brothen of White Bear Lake, and Jo Ann (Jon) Tollefson of Edina; her 13 grandchildren, Scott (LeAnn) Klosowski, Lisa Klosowski, Michael (Jackie) Thurmes, Kathleen Thurmes, Julie Thurmes, Kelly Thurmes, Carrie Klosowski, Andrew Klosowski, Bridget Klosowski, Tanya Brothen, Grace (Adam) Druecke, Julia Tollefson, and Jenna Tollefson; and 4 great-grandchildren, Samuel Klosowski, Greta Druecke, Louisa Druecke, and Bennett Thurmes; and many other family and friends.
