Obituary for Harold Richard Schubert Sr.

Harold Richard Schubert Sr.
Harold "Dutch" Richard Schubert

Harold was born on December 28, 1931 in Flint, Michigan. He was the son of Violet (nee Hanson) and Richard Schubert. He graduated from Nevis High School in 1949. Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1949-1953. During his time in the service, he met the love of his life, Joyce Ward, and they were married at Dudley Port in Birmingham, England on July 4, 1952. He went on to graduate from Northwestern Chiropractic College in Bloomington, Minnesota and graduated in 1957. Another big accomplishment was becoming a Free Mason in 1962. Harold practiced as a chiropractor for many years and eventually retired. When he was not working, he enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, continuing his education and learning, and traveling with his wife.

Harold was able to celebrate his last few months with his family by his side. He passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at his home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Violet Schubert; sister, Beverly Boe; and brother, Donald Schubert. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Ward Schubert; his children, Lorraine (Dale Frauendienst) Ward of Gaylord, MN, Harold (Leone) Schubert of Sydney, OH, and Jeff (Rhonda) Schubert of Kailua Kona, HI; his grandchildren, Stephen (Amy) Ward, Richard (Kerry) Ward, Adam Schubert, Heath (Noelle) Schubert, Heather Schubert, Greg (Shannon) Schubert, and Erica Schubert; his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Emily, and Aaron Ward, Riley, Rory, and Alexandra, Maxwell, Kira, Hana, and Pippa Schubert; many nieces and other family and friends.

The family had a private celebration by Harold’s side in February and there will be private military honors by the Air Force Honor Guard.
