Obituary for Lorraine Selma Steinbring (Tacheny)

Lorraine Selma Steinbring (Tacheny)
LIFE STORY AS WRITTEN BY HER SONS

Lorraine Selma Steinbring (Tacheny)

Beloved mother, grandma, great-grandma, and sister.

Lorraine was born in Flint, Michigan on November 17, 1929. She was one of four children to Sophie (nee Koecher) and Arthur Tacheny. When she was 5, the family moved to Whitefish, Montana for two years; after which they moved to St. Paul. She graduated from Harding High School. Her grandparents had a farm up near Weber, Minnesota (near North Branch) and they would visit them quite often. On a conjoining section of farm land to her grandparents was the Steinbring family. They had a son named Earl and eventually Lorraine and he began dating. They were married on December 16, 1950 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul. They rented an apartment on St. Paul’s Eastside for three years as they built their home in Maplewood. In 1953, their home was complete and they moved there to raise their family. The Church and her Christian faith were a central part of Lorraine’s life. She was an active member of Our Savior’s Church since joining at age eight. Lorraine and Earl enjoyed going to polka dances, barn dances, and many dinner parties with friends. Lorraine was a phenomenal mother and she dedicated her time to raising her four boys. They spent much of their free time up north and would camp and fish. Lorraine loved to garden and had a beautiful display of flowers each year. She had many craft hobbies and enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, and doing needlepoint. Her most known skill was her amazing cooking abilities. She made a wonderful roast beef, her own homemade breads, Russian dill pickles, and more. Lorraine was a loving and genuine woman who would do anything for her family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew her.

Lorraine passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan of Maplewood on August 2, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Steinbring; her parents, Arthur and Sophie Tacheny; her son, Thomas Steinbring; and her brother, Arthur (Betty) Tacheny. She is survived by her sons, Robert (Susan) Steinbring, Kenneth (Celia) Steinbring and John (Debbie) Steinbring; her daughter-in-law, Maureen Steinbring; her grandchildren, April Steinbring, Emily Steinbring, Shannon (Brian Jacobs) Steinbring-Jacobs, Melissa (Daryn) Kral, Tom (Carla) Steinbring, Dustin (Emily) Steinbring, Carla (Tyler) Ahrenstorff, Kailah Fischer, Jacob Steinbring, and Jennifer Steinbring; her 12 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Dennis (LaVonne) Tacheny and Ronnie Tacheny; and many other family and friends.

There will be a funeral service for Lorraine at 11AM on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 674 Johnson Parkway, St. Paul, with visitation from 10-11AM. Interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
