Obituary for Carol Elaine Wallin (Olson)

Print
Born on October 28th, 1932 Carol Elaine Wallin was welcomed into this world by her loving parents Frank and Elsie Olson. She grew up with her three older siblings; Bob, Richard and Sylvia on Mississippi Street and attended St. Paul Schools.

While working as a carhop at Nelson's Rootbeer Stand, she met her husband Gene in 1949. Soon after their engagement when Carol was nineteen years old, they married within two months-just before Gene went into the service for the US Army. Carol and Gene went on to have three children of their own: Wendy, Lorry, and Dale. They built their first house on Hazelwood Street in 1960. They traveled on many family vacations including trips up to the Finlayson cabin and the farm in Bear River.

Carol always loved cooking and baking something delicious in the kitchen and entertaining for her ever-growing family. The holidays were always Carol’s favorite when her whole family would come together, including their 15 grandchildren. Family always gathered in the kitchen for all of Carol’s amazing recipes she served.

Life was grand for Gene and Carol, until Gene‘s passing in 2012. Carol moved back to the cities to be closer to her family. Keeping up with visits and phone calls to friends and family, as her family only got bigger; adding 20 great-grandchildren. Also while losing many loved ones, including her oldest daughter Wendy too soon, along the way. Though life doesn’t seem fair sometimes, where ever Carol seemed to go; she always left a happy, glowing force amongst her company. People loved being around her. She was kind, sweet, loving, and always looked on the bright side of things. That’s part of what made her the tough cookie she was, up until her last days with us. She will always be remembered for her heartwarming smile and her comforting hugs. She was our sunshine, and we only hope she knew just how much we loved her. Carol will always be with us in our hearts, as we go on through life; remembering all the joy and love she brought to us all.
